4.3.2 feels smoother to me. Take that with as many grains of sand as you like.
Definitely agree. I don't know about the 3rd part app bug, but the UI feels a lot better (eg home screen appearing after you slide to unlock)

Is is just me, have Emilio and Martin been a bit quiet over this whole fiasco?
Martin criticized his son on the CNN story, but declined to elaborate on specifics concerning the show and the fued with Lorre.
As time goes on, we will see both sides and finally assume all players here are ego maniacs. :)

4-6 weeks for an SSD upgrade?!?!

Looks like another month of waiting for me!
Is it easy for us to install an SSD by ourselves? (I'm not a geek)
I've been waiting for the new 27" to replace my 2006 iMac, but I don't really have a pressing need believe it or not. I already put a core2duo in it and a 2gb 7200 rpm HD in it...
In response to the other 2 posters, I'm waiting for the iFixit teardown to see how bad the upgrade would be, just to see which SSD's they are going to use, and how hard it would be to do the upgrade on my own. Another $600 on the 27" w/ i7 pushes the price to nearly 3000, a bit expensive these days for a desktop, even if it is an Apple.

Disappointing, but expected. This actually brings up more questions than answers though:
1) Is this a permanent move to a Fall Release of the iPhone?
2) When, if ever, are they going to unite the CDMA and GSM iPhone releases (possibly in iPhone 5 with "World Chip")?
3) Does this affect the timing of iOS's release, which has traditionally been released with the new iPhone and has been centered around the iPhone's hardware?
4) The iPod touch has traditionally been released months after the iPhone. If the iPhone is released around Sept, will they release the iPod touch along with it?

what UI and what innovation? iPhone has no UI innovation. It's a grid of icons. If I draw a line on the pavement, can I patent that and call it an innovation?

I'm happy with my 2.13 Ghz 13" MBA right now.
I have and enjoy it now - that's what counts!
So, it's only my lust for 11" might push me to "upgrade" this year .... and only if they add SD reader and keyboard backlight :p
But a year from now, I certainly will be happy to switch to Intel GPU
I hear it'll be much upgraded in Ivy Bridge - twice as fast and stuff

I know you love your iPod and all (I am very fond of mine myself), but over the last few years Apple has been focusing a dispropotional amount of energy into their cute little gadget which has massively boosted their profits. For those of us that don't salivate over all things iPod, I think this is too bad.

iPhone 4 is at least one year ahead of the competition, and several years ahead when comparing HW quality / build quality. Even with dual core processors the Android UI speed compares unfavorably to pre-3GS iPhone. The Android UI itself is garbage compared to IOS 4.
It's perfectly fine to hold off a release of iPhone 4 for a few months. The competition is not catching up, not even close. The ONLY problem with delay is that there is some perception that iPhone 4 is an "old phone" even though it's the best on the market. If you find some guy who's been in a coma for the past year and ask him to choose between iPhone 4 and the latest and greatest Android spin there's no doubt which he'd choose. But ask someone who had a pulse and they know iPhone 4 was released almost a year ago. Even though it is clearly the best phone on the market, the perception is that it's old.

I would be greatly interested in this. Likely would not buy the first generation. It would aso depend on size and actual features. Ive been greatly disappointed in the revamp of the apple tv and am looking for apple to do more for my living room than this past pathetic attempt at ATV2.

Now that Apple have got an entire range of consumer machines ( laptops, desktops etc ) that can compete in terms of performance against their Window-PC counterparts, I'd expect nothing less - and expect the share to continue.
( Really - G4s had their day years ago ).

I am a little confused.
It says when you move toward the screen the appropriate control appears. So say you move toward the scroll wheel and it appears. Then do you scroll by making a scrolling motion in the air but close to the screen? Or do you scroll by rubbing your finger along the image of the scroll wheel?
One other thought.....when Apple introduced the ROKR, they said it's iTunes on your phone. That sounded a bit odd to me. Apple has never referred to the software on the iPod as iTunes.
But maybe with this increased interactivity Apple will put something on this larger screen that resembles the iTunes screen (Library, Playlists, Video Lists), possibly having iTunes on your iPod? Just an idea.
